The club holds the following flying competitions:

  1. Two fixed-wing fly-for-fun's
  2. One Flyer of the year
  3. Two Rotary-wing fly for fun's

Points are awarded with 2 point splits between places until all places or points have been depleted:

  • 1st - 50 points
  • 2nd - 48 points
  • 3rd - 46 points

 

In the event of a tie a limbo fly-off will be held.

All the points awarded for fixed-wing flying competitions are accumulated to decide the overall winner, who will be presented with the Derek Carter trophy.

 


 General Rules

  1. For fixed wing flying competitions, only fixed wing or auto-gyros may be entered.
  2. Competitors must use the same model for all events, except the limbo.
  3. Two judges or one judge and one assistant will be appointed.
  4. Disputes will be settled with an inverted limbo event

Spot Landing

SPOT is where the model first touches the ground

'A' certificates - normal landing

'B' certificates - dead stick

Up to five points will be deducted for ARRIVALS

Climb and Glide

Climb for 20 seconds, kill the engine and glide. Time is taken from point of takeoff to touchdown

'A' certificates - no restrictions

'B' certificates - five points deducted if landing outside of 20m from spot.

Baton Race

Collect baton, take off, two loops, two rolls (in any order), land, collect model (a touch is sufficient for large models), return baton

Runners may be used for senior fliers.

Limbo (Optional)

Each pass qualifies pilot for next round at a lower height.

'A' certificates - Two attempts

'B' certificates - One attempt

Pilots knocked out at the same height will receive the same points

When the minimum height has been reached passes will continue inverted.

Aerobatic

A Certificates

Manoeuvres to be performed in sequence as:

  1. Figure of eight
  2. Barrell roll
  3. Two loops
  4. Immelmann
  5. Ten-foot flypast

Aerobatic

B Certificates

Manoeuvres to be performed in sequence as

  1. Three horizontal rolls
  2. Three outside loops or bunts
  3. Three spins
  4. Cuban Eight
  5. Four point roll
Spot Landing

Pylon

(Timed Laps)

Time measured over three laps from a running start. Missed pylons must be repeated.

'A' Certificates - straight line

Course will be triangular - 133x133x75 metres

'B' Certificates - one attempt
